William J. Shergy, MD, FACP, FACR

Dr. William Shergy is board-certified in Rheumatology and Internal Medicine. He specializes in the treatment of connective tissue disorders and diseases of the immune system. In 1978, he earned his BS degree from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, and received his MD from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1982. He completed his internship and residency at Presbyterian University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, where he was also Chief Medical Resident. In addition, he completed both a clinical and research fellowship in the Division of Rheumatology and Immunology at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. Dr. Shergy is a fellow of both the American College of Physicians and the American College of Rheumatology. He is an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Huntsville, and serves as Assistant Consulting Professor in the Department of Medicine at Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, North Carolina. He is a member of the United Scleroderma Board, the Lupus Foundation of America, and the National Osteoporosis Foundation.  Dr. Shergy joined RANA in July 1988.

Kun Chen, MD, Ph.D, FACP, FACR

Dr. Kun Chen is board-certified in Rheumatology and board eligible for Internal Medicine. He is a fellow of both the American College of Physicians and the American College of Rheumatology. He specializes in the treatment of connective tissue disorders and diseases of the immune system. He received his B.A. in Biochemistry from New York University in 1997. He then attended the New York University School of Medicine, where he received his M.D.- PhD in 2004. After completing his Internal Medicine Residency Program at North Shore University Hospital in 2007, he completed his Rheumatology Fellowship at The Hospital for Special Surgery/Cornell University JS Weill Medical College in 2010. Dr. Chen joined RANA in July 2010.

Deepak Sree, MD, FACP, FACR

Dr. Deepak Sree is board-certified in Rheumatology and Internal Medicine. He is a fellow of both the American College of Physicians and the American College of Rheumatology. He specializes in the treatment of connective tissue diseases of the immune system. Dr. Sree attended Auburn University where he received many honors and awards including outstanding freshman and sophomore from the College of Science and Mathematics. In addition, he was the recipient of the Auburn Board of Trustees Scholarship and was also inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. He graduated Auburn in 2004 with a B.S. degree in Biomedical Sciences. He received his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 2008, where he was the two-time recipient of the Turner W. Hudson Medicine Endowment Scholarship. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, followed by a two year fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta. Dr. Sree joined RANA in July 2013.

Christie Thomas, MD, FACP, FACR

Dr. Christie Thomas is board-certified in Rheumatology and Internal Medicine. She specializes in the treatment of connective tissue disorders and diseases of the immune system. Dr. Thomas is a fellow of both the American College of Physicians and the American College of Rheumatology. She received her B.A. in English from Birmingham-Southern College in 2002. She then attended the University of South Alabama College of Medicine, where she received her M.D. in 2006. After completing her Internal Medicine internship at the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 2007, she completed her Internal Medicine residency at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2009. She completed her Rheumatology fellowship training at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. in 2011. She remained in Washington, D.C. and served as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at George Washington University until she joined RANA in July 2013.

Ayesha Jaleel, MD

Dr. Ayesha Jaleel joined Rheumatology Associates of North Alabama in August 2020. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Board Certified in Rheumatology. She graduated from the University of South Alabama in 2011 with a B.S. in Biomedical Sciences. She then received her M.D. from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 2015. After completing her Internal Medicine Residency in 2018 at Brookwood Baptist Hospital in Birmingham, she moved to Raleigh, NC for her Rheumatology Fellowship at the University of North Carolina which she completed in July 2020.
