The RANA Rheumatologists in both our Huntsville and Sheffield locations are internal medicine specialists who have completed additional years of training and have sub-specialized in the care of patients with rheumatic diseases.
Rheumatologists deal with inflammatory diseases which include not only rheumatoid arthritis, but also osteoarthritis, gout, lupus, osteoporosis, polymyositis, scleroderma, fibromyalgia and vasculitis, as well as many other diseases.
Dr. Shergy, Dr. Chen, Dr. Sree, Dr. Thomas, Dr. Jaleel, Dr. Meehan, Dr. Mitcham and Dr. Sabghi are all certified both by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and by the ABIM Subspecialty Board on Rheumatology.
Rheumatologists help the primary care physician to evaluate the patient’s problem, make a diagnosis, and plan the course of treatment. In some cases, your primary care physician may request the rheumatologist to manage problems over a period of time, though you would continue to see your primary care physician for your regular medical needs.
